NOTE: This is a shared event with Porsche Owners Club (POC) offering 4 x 25min sessions (or 5 x 20min) and up to 35 cars on track.
The single run group we have for this event is for High-Intermediate drivers comfortable with open passing conditions (Advanced drivers are welcome to join). We will run mixed passing rules (open passing unless car has X on back). We will have zero tolerance for drivers who are slow to point-by other drivers (or cooperate in open passing). In order for everyone to have a good time and to have good traffic flow on track, immediate point-by's are going to be necessary. If you are a high intermediate-level driver running an X on your car, please warm up your pointing arm and fingers on the way to the track, and, if possible, practice pointing people by on the freeways as you drive to work during the week. If you are not good at checking your mirrors constantly and letting faster cars by immediately (or if you disagree with this philosophy), please contact me so we can cancel your registration. If you are not a solid intermediate driver or have concerns about our skill level or car awareness expectations please contact me to discuss your attendance at this event. Our normal max car count for Laguna Seca is 30 cars. We expect to have as many as 35 cars on track on Friday and Saturday, so cooperation is especially important.
The SOUND LIMIT for this track is 92db and it is strictly enforced at MAZDA Raceway. Speed Ventures WILL NOT give refunds or credits for future events for drivers/cars that do not make sound. If there is any chance you will not make sound please notify us immediately so we can cancel your registration, hopefully before we've processed your credit card! Please contact us immediately if you have any concerns about making sound.
Everyone must check in with me between 7:00am and 7:30am. We will have a mandatory Speed Ventures drivers meeting at 7:35am. To find me, look for the red Speed Ventures easy-up in the paddock next to a white Toyota Tundra. I am the tall, fit, extremely good looking man with a full head of hair weighing 185lbs wearing Gucci shoes and a Speed Ventures t-shirt. At 7:55 we will walk to the Porsche Owners Club drivers meeting to gather additional, critical information. Your attendance at both these meetings is mandatory in order to make sure everything runs smoothly. Our first session begins at 9:00am (pre-grid at 8:50am). The schedule will be available as we get closer to the event.
MAZDA Raceway Laguna Seca Raceway is located at 1021 Monterey-Salinas Highway, Salinas CA 93908. Entry to the racetrack is the standard entrance off hwy 68, up the steep hill. There is no alternate entrance. NOTE: there is a $10-$20 gate fee per person for POC's charity event.
UNLOADING, CAMPING: Anyone arriving on Thursday to unload will have to wait in Lot 5 until 6pm Thursday, at which point the paddock will be opened. The paddock will be open 24hrs/day throughout the weekend, starting at 6pm Thursday. Feel free to arrive anytime after that to drop off your equipment. Please be quiet if you pull into the pits after 10pm as people will be sleeping in their campers, etc. in the paddock. The Speed Ventures pit area is on the left immediately after you enter the paddock. Camping is allowed in the paddock if you want to sleep in your car, on the ground, or in your motor home. However, it appears POC is charging $150 for all three nights, so be prepared to have to pay a fee.
GASOLINE: Make sure you show up with enough gas to run your first session at least! The gas pumps should work, they usually do, but we do not guarantee that they will work. They have not worked twice in 7 years, so if it is absolutely critical that you have high-octane fuel, bring your own or find a local back-up source. NOTE: most tracks are now offering 97 unleaded, not 100.
Loading in early: please contact us if you need to load in early.
You must have car NUMBERS, at least 8” tall, located on both sides AND the back of your vehicle. This is mandatory for all cars. You can make up a 3-digit number - we will notify you if it is in use by another driver at the track.
TOW HOOKS are required. If you do not have a tow hook on the front of your car, please have one installed or figure out a tow point (at the front) that we can use to pull you off track. It is your responsibility to make sure that use of the tow hook or tow point will not damage your car. Speed Ventures is not responsible for damage done to your car if you do not establish a tow point.
